Well done to the Joburg Boys A Team who brought back the gold and won the A section of the SA Schools IPT 2023 held in Stellenbosch hosted by Boland Squash :
The u/19 Boys B section played out of their skin but fell at the last hurdle against Free State. The did however bring back the Silver medal, Well done to Joshua Barron and Etienne Schutte who were unbeaten the whole tournament and to Gary Chapman who only lost 1 match (3-2)
Players : Gary Chapman, Alex Palmer, Etienne Schutte, Mark Thomas, Timothy Engelbrecht and Joshua Barron
George Palmer, manager of the B Side commented “These boys grew together as a team and grew as individuals. I think they found the right balance between being serious and having fun and it showed in their support for each other and the way the other teams interacted with them. Losing to Free State was tough but overall I can not fault the team. it was an honour to be there with these guys.”
The Girls B section also saw The Joburg Girls B team bring home the silver :
Players : Elana Jackson, Suzel Zevenster, Dorothea Loubser, Cabryn Bray, Ashleigh Byrne
As Hennie Zevenster, the Manager of the team said “Although this experience was new for most of the team members, the support between their fellow team players was applaudable. We are proud of the B team who played their hearts out until the last point was recorded. They did not give up and did their best to score points till the end. Well done girls.”
We can all be very proud of all the players. They represented the province with distinction.
