22 November 2022 Dear squash players and parents, We had a fantastic response to the SOS tournament and numbers are almost back to the pre-Covid numbers. Although this is fantastic, it does bring about some organizing challenges. Likewise, school sport is a constraint that try to work around and have done so by not having games scheduled on a Saturday morning. However, this further reduce the available time for matches. On Friday the 14th of October, JJS, hosted the first of our 6 targeted Squad training sessions to be held from here onwards, and especially in the new year, leading up to IPTs in July. 2022 SOS (Start of Season) Tournament
The 2022 SOS Tournament was recently held at Parkview Squash courts. There was a great turnout of over 130 players in all age groups (from under 11 to under 19, boys and girls). As usual the Parkview facilities were in perfect condition and even though it was very hot, there were a number of parents who stayed to watch thier kids perform. Who is Joburg Junior Squash ?
Joburg Junior Squash is the controlling body of Junior Squash in and around the Johannesburg area. Joburg Junior Squash is a non-profit organisation and all profit goes back into developing Junior Squash in and around the Johannesburg area. Joburg Junior Squash offers primary and high school squash leagues and have a number of fun, provincial and national weekend tournaments being played throughout the year. Once the players have participated in some of these tournaments the top Joburg Juniors will get invited to represent Joburg Junior Squash in the South African Junior Inter-Provincials, which are held in June throughout the country. As a parent of a young nationally ranked junior squash player I am proud of my progress so far: he is a junior county player, county tournament champion, England squad. Haven’t I done well?
